Hey there, fellow Switch fans! Remember when GameStop started cancelling Nintendo Switch pre-orders out of the blue? Now it looks like Target has joined the club, unfortunately. I know how frustrating it can be to wait eagerly for your console, only to find out that your order has been cancelled.
Our reader, Dank Plank, pre-ordered his Switch from Target early on, only to receive an email today saying his order was cancelled. When he called for an explanation, they told him they’d oversold the stock, leaving them unable to fulfill all orders. It’s the same story we heard from GameStop – too many pre-orders, not enough consoles.
Do you guys remember how GameStop randomly cancelled Switch preorders because of stock issues? Well Target is doing it to. I received an email saying my order was cancelled, so I called them up and asked why and they said exactly what GameStop said. To much preorders allowed for too little stock. They apologized and said they could do nothing about it. I had nothing to do with my payment either because the charge went through properly. It sucks that I’m going to have to look all over again and wait for a chance to pre order a switch.
What’s especially frustrating is that this isn’t even about payment issues; everything processed correctly. For those affected, it means starting from scratch, scouring for another pre-order slot and hoping it doesn’t happen again. Have you had a similar experience with your pre-order? Let us know!
